UNIVERSITY of the THIRD AGE
Join us for Cultural, Educational and Social Activities
The University of the Third Age is an international organisation whose aims are the education and stimulation of those in their third 'age' of life. By the early 1980's the U3A groups acknowledged that retired people have a lifetime of experience and, collectively, a vast amount of knowledge. The self-help aspect is used to start groups on a subject where each meeting is led by a member of the group with specialist knowledge. - Wikipedia
South Africa's first U3A was established in Cape Town at the start of the new millennium. Each local branch is autonomous - although connected through support and sharing. U3A is a voluntary non-profit making organization.
Monthly Meetings are held at local Benoni venues. Various guest speakers are invited to address members on interesting and varied subjects. Course Activities are run by Group Leaders, usually at their homes. Members from all walks of life, share their knowledge, skills, interest and hobbies with others.
